Come Along On Our Camper Adventures!

Traveling and Guadalupe Mountains National Park

Sunday we needed to move sites. We had about a 3.5 hour drive to Carlsbad, NM but to get around the mountains, we traveled south into Texas for quite a bit. The drive was long and boring. At one point we had 125 miles of staring at the same straight road 😂

While we were driving past, we stopped at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. We planned a full day here, but since it’s 70 miles round trip from our Carlsbad camp site, we stopped to kick it out today. There isn’t much to do at this park. A few longer more strenuous hikes, and it’s back at 100 degrees so pretty hot. There was a short hike at the visitors center that showed the first post service to cross the mountains and deliver mail east to west before the pony express.

We arrived at the Carlsbad KOA and since we only have one park to visit here, we are going to try to move some reservations up and get into Nashville a day early on the tail end of our trip. That’s the great thing about traveling with our house… flexibility!
