Wednesday we headed to Mt Washington and took the Auto Road 8 miles up to the peak at 6,288 ft. We’ve been to the top of Pikes Peak, so we know about the temperature change and wind… so who knows why we forgot to bring sweatshirts with us 🤦🏻♀️ Parenting fail for sure. Joe had 3 raincoats in the back, but that was all we had. It was a chilly day!
The drive up was beautiful and so were the views with all the twists and turns. It was overcast at the top, but luckily it cleared up a bit while we were in the visitors center and gift shops so we had clear skies before heading down.
Back at our campsite, the kids decided to hit the river and do some more tubing on our last full day here. It was moving a little quicker today after the torrential rains last night.
After dinner, we ventured back over to Vermont for ice cream. Joe had heard of the local Vermont favorite Maple Creemee, which is maple flavored soft serve, and had to give it a try. Ice cream and Creemees were enjoyed by all.
Tomorrow we head to Maine for an overnight stop before crossing the border.
