Day 2 of our great adventure! We had a long drive ahead of us, so we hit the ground running early. Stopped at Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a 33,000 acre park sitting between Akron and Cleveland. We had limited time, so we hit 2 trails for short 1.5 mile hikes, Brandywine Falls and The Ledges. We were able to catch up with one of Joe’s grad school friends who lives in Ohio too, so it was great to see him on our hike. The kids were great and really enjoyed taking pictures on their cameras, phones and iPods. They each told me that they wanted to make a scrapbook with all their pictures. Let’s see how they feel at day 45 😂
We departed Ohio knowing we had a long drive. Our destination for the night was NW suburbs of Chicago. Storms moving through the Ohio/Indiana area had Joe battling rain and 20mph wind gusts. Chicago brought us traffic and lots of construction. An exhausting day for him. The kids had their moments, but generally did really well on the long car ride. We arrived at our site for the night Camp Reinberg in Cook County Forrest Preserves. Kids got cranky and tired and with the time change, we are all ready for early bed.
