Come Along On Our Camper Adventures!

Day 35 – Canyonlands

No, it’s not an amusement park as our kids thought. But it did provide another awesome day. We spent the day in the Island In The Sky district of the park. Amazing canyons, overlooks and some arches. We also took an amazing 2 mile hike to Grand View Point for an excellent view from the Island in The Sky.

Joe wanted to do some more off-roading (his poor truck) so we decided to take a back entrance road out of the park. What followed was a 45 mile drive definitely off the beaten path. It started out driving the rim of the canyon, then a series of no joke switchbacks for about 10 miles to get down into the canyon, and dirt roads allong the Colorado River to exit the park into a National Forest, before returning to town. It was a crazy 2.5 hours!! But provided some amazing views. It was like being on a nonstop rollercoaster… which I would never do… so there were some stops to let me get my equilibrium back and not vomit 😂 The boys rode in the front with dad and had a blast! I think I’ve reached my adrenaline rush limit for the rest of the trip.

Goose Neck of The Colorado

Once we were finally back on paved roads, we headed into town for BBQ dinner at Spitfire Smokehouse which was amazing! Moab, Utah, you definitely did not disappoint! Tomorrow we start heading east for home… with a bunch of stops in between.
