Today we visited Sequoia National Park. Due to the heat and extreme temps, we decided to take Charlie with us rather than leave her in the camper. That meant some split shifts going inside buildings and on short hikes. In Sequoia, pets are only permitted in parking lots.
We saw so much today! We started on a 25 mile (each way) side trip on Mineral King Road. It was a very long, bumpy trip but had a separate section to Sequoia which is not connected to the main park. It is know as a backpackers haven as a jump off to a lot of the parks long hikes. At the top, there is a very small chalet resort with a restaurant know for its pie. Of course we stopped!
After that we went into the main park. Stopped at the visitors center then spent the rest of the day driving Generals Highway and pulling off to see the mountains and views. Heading into Giant Forest Grove was amazing. Words and photos can’t even do it justice. We were in the park until sunset and headed out under the full moon.
Tomorrow we head to Kings Canyon.
